    Organizational structure: The COPERNICUS Alliance is set together by the members (universities, NGOs, public institutions, higher education entities, individual members…). It is headed by the president and vice-president and supported by the Scientific Steering Committee.     Number and type of members: The COPERNICUS Alliance is based on the COPERNICUS Charta which has been signed by more than 300 European Universities. Members of the COPERNICUS Alliance are 20 Higher Education Institutions located in Europe as well as departments and individuals who have strong interest or focus their research in the field of higher education for sustainable development. The COPERNICUS Alliance is also open for partnerships with NGOs as well as has strong cooperations with Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development.
