Mission statement:	Mission and Goals ISEAL’s vision is a world where social justice and environmental sustainability are the normal conditions of business. We believe that products and services should be created in a fair and sustainable way. ISEAL’s mission is to define good practices for sustainability standards, to distinguish and promote credible standards and to ensure that people understand the difference. We support cooperation among our members and other interested parties to shape an effective standards movement. By building a collaborative movement we aim to achieve a significant and increasing impact on the sustainability of products and services worldwide. We have set specific goals as part of our five year strategic plan that runs from 2009 to 2013: Goal 1: ISEAL defines credibility ISEAL is developing a suite of Codes and Credibility Tools that define good practices for sustainability standards. Goal 2: Sustainability standards use credible practices Sustainability standards are improving practices as a result of shared learning within the ISEAL community and from support received to use ISEAL’s Credibility Tools. Goal 3: Stakeholders support credibility and credible standards ISEAL is engaging and encouraging stakeholders to use, reference and support credible standards and ISEAL Codes. Goal 4: Movement scales up the impact of credible standard systems ISEAL is developing the conditions and strategy for sustainability standards to work together as an effective movement to scale up their impacts. Goal 5: ISEAL is strong and sustainable ISEAL is implementing systems and structures to support its growth, sustainability, and operational effectiveness so that it may work at the forefront of the sustainability standards movement. Scaling Up Strategy ISEAL has launched a Scaling Up Strategy, providing a path for our members to dramatically increase their social, environmental and economic impacts. The strategy identifies four ways that standards systems can have a greater impact by working together, and how they can continue to play a vital role in bringing about sustainable development solutions: • Positioning credible standards systems as leaders in achieving sustainable development • Leveraging the support of key external actors for scaling up • Increasing producer and enterprise access to standards • Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of standards systems www.isealalliance.org
