    Organizational structure: The CEC is an incorporated not-for-profit association which is based in Melbourne and operates nationally. The Council operates nine directorates consisting of representatives from member companies to advise the council on policy and industry development issues in specific areas of the clean energy industry. These directorates include: 1. Wind 2. Solar PV 3. Energy Efficiency 4. Solar Hot Water 5. Grid (Network) 6. Bioenergy 7. Emerging technologies 8. International 9. Hydro The CEC reports to an 11-person board elected by its members. The board advises on the organisation's strategic direction and financial management. The CEC's policy and advocacy work is guided by a committee, comprising a representative of each sponsoring member and the chair of each directorate. The Policy and Advocacy committee reports to the Board.
    Number and type of members: The CEC's membership is made up of more than 600 member companies that are involved in the development or deployment of clean energy technologies such as bioenergy, cogeneration, energy efficiency, geothermal, hydro, solar, solar hot water, marine energy and wind. Member organisations are provided with immediate opportunities to tap into unique business, educational and networking benefits and forums for debate - driven by industry, for industry. Three standard membership levels are offered: - Sponsoring (top tier) - Corporate (mid-tier) - Associate (entry level) Three specially tailored membership levels are also offered: - Supporter: for organisations that are indirectly involved in the industry - Emerging Technologies: for organisations whose primary business is the development of emerging technologies such as geothermal, wave, tidal, solar thermal etc. - Network: for small installers of renewable energy systems
    Affiliation with NGO networks: The CEC works with various NGOs in Australia and in the South East Asia and Pacific Region. Notably, CEC hosts the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) South East Asia and Pacific Regional Secretariat.
