Mission statement:	Finance by awarding grants or loans, research and actions that contribute in a significant and innovative way to the progress of humanity through sciences and social development. The Foundation is subordinate to no political party and no religion. Its philosophy is profoundly humanist, but it is fully aware that the humanism of the 21st century is not that of the 19th. The Foundation aims at evolving as part of a human adventure, shared with its partners, enriched by new encounters, open to others and to new ideas. Program areas: Governance; ethics and responsibility; transition from the present model of development to a more sustainable society; contribution to the emergence of a global community. The publication and distribution of ideas, research, testimonies, experiences and proposals complement the actions of the foundation. This is implemented through the Éditions Charles Léopold Mayer, the foundation's publisher and through joint publishing projects (compilation of collections, translations) run by the Foundation in conjunction with various publishing houses. The Foundation also supports a prize on Academic Research.

Organizational structure:	The Foundation Board is the governing authority of the foundation. They designate the Director, and fix the budget, based on the Director's proposal and in conformity with the aims of the foundation. The Director is responsible for the implementation of the budget. The Board is currently composed of 10 active members.

Funding structure other:	The foundation is a non-profit organisation under Swiss law registered in the Canton de Vaud, Switzerland.
