Mission statement:	ULWEN works to identify, initiate, lobby, implement development projects at a local and national level, which empower women economically and e and eventually alleviate poverty in the society .In short, the goals of the organisation are to empower women to live with AIDS in a positive manner, as well as to prevent infection, by giving women the fora and voice to articulate their needs. THE KEY OBJECTIVES • Disseminate information to beneficiaries • Capacity Building of collaborating organizations. • To strengthen networks with other Community organizations working with ULWEN. • Establish Community Managed Revolving Loan Funds (CMRLF). • To conduct activities that will enable the achievement of the mission WHAT DOES ULWEN DO? • Mobilize and organize women for economic empowerment initiatives. • Training women at the grassroots level on their Human Rights, Civic and Gender issues affecting women, • youths and children. • Advocating and lobbying on issues affecting women, youths and children. • Networking with other organizations and government locally and regional/ international in order to • support issues affecting women and to successfully initiate and implement development projects • Holding seminars/ workshops to sensitize leaders on economic empower GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE The women network is currently based in South Nyanza Awendo region, its operations are geared towards the whole Nyanza Province. The main economic activities of the region are agriculture, micro enterprises and fishing. Our target groups are • Human Rights • Education • Income generating activities • Health • Water/Sanitation • HIV/AIDS • Community development • Entrepreneurship • Orphans(Vulnerable Childrens) and Widows.

Organizational structure:	STRUCTURE ULWEN is headed by a management board, which consists of seven members who are women run by the Executive Director and staff. There are also advisory boards for projects. These boards consists of directors or leaders of various organizations mostly women organizations that will network partners in the implementation of the project. By operation ULWEN is a networking organization. It implements its programs by collaborating with women headed community based organizations, women groups, other non-governmental organizations, institutions and Governmental organizations operating in the program area .
