Mission statement:	LYIPSUD’s Development Agenda for Liberia Article I of the Amended Articles of Incorporation of LYIPSUD states: The name of the Organization hereinafter referred to as the Corporation shall be known as the Liberia Youth Initiative for Peace and Sustainable Development, INC. To devise and implement new and innovative programs geared towards the empowerment of all young people for the sustenance of genuine peace and development in Liberia. The main objective is buttressed by several specific objectives targeting key thematic areas in which LYIPSUD’s intervening role will be viable as follow: Specific Objective I: Education, Skills Development and Livelihood Opportunities -priority on the underprivileged, marginalized and discriminated groups, specific focus on youth as an innovative strategy to maintain peace and sustain development in Liberia. Thematic Area of Intervention: Education opportunities for disadvantaged population groups • Education/Scholarship programs including capacity development programs for indigenous population groups including student groups, youth-led civil society organizations • Vocational Training for skill development as an innovative strategy to facilitate self employment and income generation for sustenance • Livelihood Opportunities for vulnerable groups including women and girls, youth with disabilities through the forming of cooperatives, and community based self help groups; promoting inclusive development at grassroots level Specific Objective II: Promoting healthy habits through awareness and capacity development and information sharing Thematic Areas of Intervention: • Health Programs for vulnerable and adolescent groups focused on girls and women with disabilities who are mostly victims of “double discrimination” in society • Sensitization Programs • Self esteem capacity development initiatives • Street to Street Campaign projects on HIV/AIDs, STDs TB, Malaria prevention and strengthening referral networks for access to available treatment etc. Specific Objective III: Facilitating the establishment of synergies/networks to complement the efforts of national and international state and non state actors for the implementation of programs where we have shared vision and objectives. • Responding to Calls for proposals, • Drawing up specific programs that complement national government efforts through research of key policy documents that will enable LYIPSUD benefit from direct government budget subsidy etc. which is paramount for sustainability • Engaging Development partners with innovative suggestions for poverty alleviation through networking LYIPSUD is formed pursuant to the achievement of the Liberia Rising Vision 2030 within the framework of the MDGs I, II, III, VIII. LYIPSUD’s focus is on the UNMDG I, eradicating extreme poverty focusing on the youthful population of Liberia more than 67% of the population (LISGIS Census report), UNMDG II achieving universal primary education for children and youth, UNMDG III promoting Gender equity and participation through women and girls empowerment, promoting healthy competition etc., MDG VIII developing global partnerships for development focus on networking local and international youth groups etc. Core Values: Cross cutting the implementation of all development projects initiated by LYIPSUD is the mainstreaming of gender and disability issues, and the respect for the fundamental human rights and the inherent dignity of the human person as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international protocols promoted by universal solidarity organizations including the UN, AU, ECOWAS and MRU to which Liberia is a signatory. GOAL: The ultimate goal of LYIPSUD is the achievement of an inclusively developed Liberia and a holistically empowered citizenry for the sustenance of peace and democratic development.
