Organizational structure: |
The Igarapé Institute is a registered non-profit organization based in Brazil. The Institute is overseen by an executive director, a research director and a managing director. The Institute´s governance structure includes a board of directors, a fiscal council, an advisory board and, in 2015, an honorary board. The Institute undertakens independent audits annually, and all records of its accounts are transparent and online. The Institute also houses the Secretariat for the Global Commission on Drug Policy - an entity that includes nine former heads of state, a former UN Secretary General, as well as globally renowned business and finance leaders. Number and type of members: |
The Igarapé Institute includes 40 personnel working in Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Mexico, Washington, London, and Lisbon. Additional partners and consultants are also based elsewhere in Brazil and South Africa. The team includes specialists in international relations, international law, security and development studies, economics, and computer science. Staff operate in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. The Institute also includes 5 financial and human resource administrative staff. What is more, the Institute has formal partnerships with 5 sub-contracted organizations providing additional inputs in relation to press and communications, graphic design and lay-out support, additional data science/software programming skills, and accounting. |
