General Assembly: The General Assembly comprises all members of AFEMS and sets the strategy and direction of the Association. It also approves the annual accounts and budget for AFEMS. Ordinary meetings of the General Assembly are convened by the President and held at least once a year. An Extraordinary General Assembly may also be convened by the President, with the approval of the Board, if required. President: The President presides over the meetings of the General Assembly and the Board of Directors. He ensures the Association is properly run and ensures that decisions taken by the General Assembly are carried out. The President is elected by the General Assembly. Board of Directors: The Board of Directors (BOD) comprises of at least six directors and the President of the Association. Each candidate is chosen and nominated to the General Assembly by AFEMS members in their own country. Directors serve a fixed, three year term of office which is renewable. The President of the Association presides over the BOD. The Board is convened at least twice a year by the President or the Secretary General and may delegate all or part of the daily management of AFEMS to its President or to one or several executive officers. Secretary General: The Secretary General is appointed by the Board and is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of AFEMS, within powers defined by the Board. The Secretary General is the key representative for AFEMS on a day-to-day basis. While he participates in all meetings of the General Assembly and of the Board, he has no voting rights since his role is purely an advisory one. |
