Mission statement:	The JOHN PAUL II FOUNDATION “for dialogue, cooperation and development” was born in 2007, after a decennial work and action towards the Holy Land and the Middle East. Except in case of humanitarian emergency, the aim of all our projects is to create opportunities and conditions for sustainable development and growth, with particular attention to social, educational and health needs. Our main target is to create opportunities for tracing permanent conditions of development in the above mentioned sectors as well as the creation of new jobs in the awareness that only the job’s dignity is able to build up a true social justice. Although the roots of our Foundation are in the Catholic Church, one of its peculiarities is the capacity to gather many protagonists from different backgrounds to build up projects together. We have a multi stakeholders approach. Therefore the John Paul II Foundation is used to work with institutions like States, Regions, Municipalities, Universities, Private companies, NGOs, Religious organizations in the Near East and other Foundations. We are trying to take part to a wide network to create synergy and cooperation for the benefit of the communities in the Near East. We are not a philanthropic foundation. Our activities are funded by the generosity of individuals, institutions and organizations. The foundation is a non profit-making organization whereby it is forbidden to pay short and long term profits to the stakeholders.The Foundation aims to represent a dynamic and efficient tool in order to favor a real dialogue among people, cultures and religions, further more by building up an opportunity for the implementation of projects in the international cooperation and development sectors. Therefore the Foundation has the priority of being a permanent link among various public and private entities dealing with international cooperation and development interventions in particular within the Mediterranean area, the Near and Far east through a positive action inspiring to the optimization of the resources in order to realize long last projects that are able to leave real footsteps and impinge upon the economical, social and cultural framework of the involved territories.

Organizational structure:	The Foundation is leaded by a Board of Administrators of seven members with a CEO and a deputy CEO; Moreover, the Scientific Committee welcomes almost eighty people from Italy and abroad and from different backgrounds. Finally, the Board of Auditors is responsible for the financial and economic monitoring. Our Executive Office is located in Pratovecchio Stia: the team is composed by the Director, and nine employees. We have also an office in Florence, Venice, Palermo, Milano, St.Gallen (CH) Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Our offices in the Middle East allow us to stay in touch with the local reality and needs. The John Paul II Foundation is officially registered by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State of Israel and by the Palestinian National Authority, and it is a a member of the R.O.A.C.O.
