Three separate but inclusive pillars structure make up Chinese American Parent Student Council: Parent Division, Student Division, and Research Institute. Each arm has their own membership base with specific talents and expertise concentrated in the area of the CAPSC’s vision to help move the CAPSC’s mission and philosophies forward. CAPSC Parent Division play an active and important role in their community and are considered the keystone pillar to everything that occurs in CAPSC. They are the force behind all the events, initiatives, and engagement that CAPSC partakes in and they are the group that pulls in the student division and research center when planning and executing them. CAPSC Student Division has the most potential as it consists of a network of youth volunteers from grade school all the way to young professionals looking to give back to the community and mentor their younger generation. It was formed to support the mission of the organizations through volunteerism and increasing awareness of the needs of our younger generation and community. Our system of young professional have graduated from prestigious universities and just starting their professional careers who work with children in the community, assisting them in achieving success in school, improving their confidence, and helping them build and forge stronger relationships with their peers, families, and their respective communities. CAPSC’s Youth Action Team is subsidiary body under the division made up of a coalition of high school aspiring youth leaders working together as the bridge between the younger students and the “alumni”. In a way, the student division is a continuous cycle of new members joining, who then become old members who guide the new members. Chinese American Parent-Student Council Research Center is the strategic and the outward facing arm of CAPSC. Aside from serving various communities through our initiatives and programs, CAPSC will utilize participatory action research to inform the public about the issues, attitudes and trends shaping community and youth development. With the involvement from community and business leaders, and youth leaders, the research arm promotes and plans events and activities in communities that enhance the cohesiveness and sustainability of their communities. Community development requires the community to come together and to take action on a wide array of planned investments: economic, cultural, and social development, and our environment. Committed to developing the next generation of leaders in our youth and inspiring them to reach new levels of achievement, the research group at CAPSC pushes for positive youth development and civic engagement. |
