Mission statement:	The Nigerian Council is chartered as a 501(C)(3) Non-Partisan Non-Government Organization established to help in the fight against poverty, violent extremism, human trafficking, organized crimes, governance and democracy, human rights and rule of law, public health, environment and energy. Through building partnerships, we foster mutual cooperation, diplomacy, public policy and leadership between the Nigerian government and its citizen on one hand, and between Nigerian citizens and the world on the other. The Council aims at deploying its expertise to advance the cause of Nigeria’s development, peace and security through education and cultural exchange across the globe as well as among her citizens’, re-orientating the citizenry on their collective responsibility and obligation as citizens in the service our nation, while also bridging the erosive trust issue between the government and the citizens. Our focus is to galvanize affirmative action among friends of Nigeria, the civil society, political, business and religious leaders in confronting critical issues relating to public health, social justice and human rights, sustainable development, climate change, equality, issues regarding women and girls, governance and leadership, the threat of terrorism and violent extremism, cyber/homeland security. Established in 2010 with a mission and purpose of providing niche services to the Nigerian people and the communities we serve across the globe while also working tirelessly to complement the objectives of the Government of Nigeria, the Council believes that the civil society as an integral actor within the national development architecture must be part of the development calculus that complements the work of the Nigerian government, multilateral institutions, donor agencies and the civil society in areas of citizenship orientation, national identity, reforms and transformation, as well as other issues that cut across the entire development, peace and security spectrum. Through our engagement, we have been able to save millions of lives and bring hope to poor communities in Nigeria and Africa. Mobilizing for impact and change The Nigerian Council seeks to build a Nation at peace, where cooperation and collective partnership are paramount as against divisiveness, corruption and selfishness, with the resolve that the causes of our conflicts are addressed and disputes resolved without recourse to violence. Our mission can be derived from the twin outline: 1. To engage every Nigerian in the Project Nigeria Initiative; where every citizen is empowered to lead as a stakeholder instead of always asking what Nigeria can do for them. 2. To promote policy and institutional reforms for sustained economic growth and transformation.
