Mission statement:	A leading European research-intensive university, UCD is the largest university in Ireland, and is one of the two Irish universities ranked within the top 200 universities in the world (THE World University Ranking). QS Subject Rankings Development Studies is Ranked 45 in the World. Strongest subject in UCD. We have undergraduate electives on the MDGs, Several Masters Programs (Including a Masters in Development Practice), Ph.D. in Global Human Development and two research Centres. Key characteristic of all the courses and research is that it is done out in Africa with several partners. With a history stretching back to 1854 and an impressive list of notable alumni, including the writer James Joyce and many current and former government ministers, we can rightly claim to have been a formative influence and an integral part of the Irish State since its foundation. In recent years UCD has established itself as Ireland’s Global University, with operations around the world, and more than 5000 international students attending our Dublin campus coming from 124 different countries. This allows us to give all students an international education that will prepare them to take their place in today and tomorrow’s global society.
