Till date, thousands of beneficiaries have been recorded in many communities within the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria and within cities in West Africa. 2. Based on objectives 3 to 5, and in line with the SDG11 (sustainable development goal 11) to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, Trauma Care International Foundation developed 3 programs to educate beneficiaries on best practices in recognition and response to emergencies and trauma-related accidents: I) Child Safety Awareness Campaign: This program has provided first aid skills, safety education and emergency response training to thousands of school age children and their minders till date. II) The Basic Emergency Response Program: This program is a platform to provide basic and intermediate levels of first aid and emergency rescue training to public officers involved in emergency care and traffic management in Nigeria especially the Federal Road Safety Commission and other Government law enforcement officials (Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, Vehicle Inspection Service and members of the Armed Forces. This program has resulted in making them better-trained 'First Responders' who can effectively administer first aid, resuscitate casualties, evacuate and transport them properly to the hospital. III) The Campaign for Improved Trauma and Emergency Response Program: An advocacy and health education program which is is focused on educating organized local communities, students in higher institutions, major road users, members of road transport and motorcyclist associations on effective responses to common emergencies (especially those resulting from home and road traffic accidents). This is in keeping with the WHO's Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care and the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration. IV) Voluntary Blood Donation Initiative: designed to improve the clinical outcomes of trauma victims who need blood for safe transfusion post-injury, Trauma Care International Foundation till date has recruited thousands of voluntary, unpaid blood donors who donate blood regularly through well- organized blood donation drives in partnership with Local Blood Transfusion Services/Agencies. These programs have collectively helped to improve pre-hospital care and in-hospital management of trauma victims and have created opportunities for Trauma Care International Foundation to influence the development of standard trauma management systems in Nigeria. 3. In line with objectives 3 and 4, advocacy efforts are presently ongoing in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Commission for the inclusion of compulsory First Aid education in Schools and also the implementation of Post-Crash Training courses for their personnel across Nigeria.
