Mission statement:	The Research Institute for the Integration of World Thought was officially established in December 2000 in order to encourage academic research on fundamental issues in a way that is both non-sectarian and respectful of the spiritual and intellectual traditions of the world. It conducts this research with the recognition that such research furthers appreciation for the historical context out of which today’s problems emerge and with recognition that the role of researchers is to act based on identifying problems and seeking solutions on the basis of objective measurable criteria. The Research Institute acknowledges the pivotal role played by the United Nations as the central international organization that provides a venue and an agenda reference through the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Research Institute see this as a period where “we the people” can commit to a common appreciation of the key problems and gather, discuss, and seek solutions, as we grow increasingly aware that the future will be founded on collaboration rather than conflict.

Organizational structure:	The structure of the RIIWT consists of a Board of Directs, Officers, and (as needed) Committees appointed by the Board (presently, there are no committees). The Board of Directors shall be the responsible governing body of the Corporation, and shall be responsible for administering through By-Laws and resolutions the specific affairs and activities of the Corporation (3.1). The Board will have between 3 and 12 directors elected for a 3-year period (3.2) during an annual Board meeting (3.3). The officers of the Corporation shall consist of a President, a Secretary-General, one or more Vice Presidents, and a Treasurer (4.1). The officers of the Corporation shall be appointed by the Board of Directors (4.1.2) for 3-year terms (4.1.3).
