Organizational structure: M.E.P. Italia is a cultural, non-political, non-profit association established in Modena in September 1996. It is connected to a European network of M.E.P. organizations and High Schools promoting the project at a national and international level. The association is based in Modena (Via A. Tagliazucchi 46, 41121) and registered to the Albo Provinciale dell’Associazionismo e Volontariato (Leggi Regionali n.10/1995 and n.3/1999). The Association is composed of teachers, University and High School students who voluntarily assist the organization of the activities and of all of those who wish to promote a European dimension of education through a concrete experience of research and democratic debate. Furthermore, local, national and European institutions support our projects. Through the last 20 years of activity, the Association has built an extensive European network of partners as well as local networks of M.E.P. schools in Italy. On an annual basis, these collaborations result in two international sessions in various European cities, several Euroregional Sessions, one Italian national session and 8 city-wide and/or regional sessions from Veneto to Campania. Currently, more than a thousand Italian young people enthusiastically partake in this project. The Organs of the Association are (a) the Assembly of Members; b) the President; c) the Governing Council; d) the Board of Arbitrators; e) the Secretary. The Association is administered by a Governing Council composed of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 members. The Councilors are appointed by the Assembly, remain in office for two years and may be re-elected. The Council appoints a President, a Vice-President, a Councillor acting as Secretary and a Councillor acting as Treasurer. The ordinary Assembly deliberates: a) on the approval of the final balance and budget and on the destination or coverage, respectively, of the surplus or deficit of management; b) on the amount of ordinary and extraordinary contributions due; c) on the admission of honorary and supporting members; d) on the approval of any internal regulations and relative modifications; e) on the appointment and revocation of the members of the administrative body; f) on the appointment and revocation of the members of the board of arbitrators; g) on the appointment and revocation of the members of the scientific and/or cultural commissions or committees, after having established the number of the members h) on the responsibility of the members of the corporate bodies and promotes liability actions against them; i) on anything else delegated to it by law and by the Statute. At the regional level, the association is aided by Local boards. Currently there are 4 local and regional boards: Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Toscana, Campania and Lazio.
Number and type of members: According to Art. 6 of the Statute there are four types of members. In particular, Natural persons, Public and Private Bodies, Associations and Institutions, including those without legal status, can be Members. Members are divided into the following categories: a) Ordinary members; b) Supporting members; c) Honorary members; d) Meritorious members. 1. Ordinary Members are individuals who pay the membership fee set by the Board of Directors. The latter has the faculty to establish reduced membership fees for students and family members of Members. The payment of the membership fee and the withdrawal of the membership card constitute acts of adhesion to the Association and acceptance of the present Statute. 2) Supporting Members are natural persons, moral entities, public bodies, associations, companies of any kind and institutions that continuously support the work of the Association by means of concrete monetary contributions, in any case exceeding five ordinary membership fees, or with direct collaboration of persons and means. 3) Honorary Members are the physical persons who, due to their professional qualities or to the authoritativeness of the positions they hold, can give, with their presence in the Association, a concrete help for the realization of the social aims. The title of Honorary Member is conferred by the Board of Directors for a period of two years and can be confirmed indefinitely with an express resolution of the Board of Directors itself. Honorary Members may be elected by the Assembly upon proposal of the Executive Committee for particular cultural merits. Honorary Members are exempted from paying the membership fee. 4) Meritorious Members shall be those who, by means of conspicuous gifts and donations, have contributed or contribute to the strengthening of the Association.
