The General Membership (all paid up members) elect the EC (written ballot, 12 members, rotating base), the EC elects the officers and co-opts three additional members. To avoid privileges for rich country members, the General Membership makes all necessary decision (elections of EC members, change of Basic Charter of Incorporation). The Membership Assembly, called together at the triennial symposia of WSV, has consultative not decision making status.
Number and type of members: ca. 500 members from all fields connected to victimology: e.g. psychologists, sociologists, lawyers, physicians, criminologists. The membership is young, a good proportion of young academics and graduate students taking advantage of the various Postgraduate Courses in Victimology
