Organizational structure: The Academy diffuses its activities to all countries of the world where the Academy’s structure has been established. The Academy’s national headquarters are independent organizations, founded in accordance with national legislation, implementing their own programs and projects, but united by common goals of sustainable development. The Academy’s members include scientists, statesmen and public figures, heads of companies and organizations, as well as specialists and experts.
Number and type of members: Since 1990, more than 17 thousand members have joined the Academy. The Academy’s high international status and its worldwide forum have been ensured by United Nations Under Secretary-General Joseph V. Reed (USA), Yuri Vorontsov (Russia), Ju Chao (China), Yves Berthelot (France), authoritative international diplomats, and leading scientists and experts from the UN Secretariat, in addition to extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors from various countries. Many prominent political and public figures of the world are involved in the Academy, including the UN Secretary-General at different times (i.e. Boutros Ghali and Kofi A. Annan), presidents and prime ministers from many countries, governors, senators, deputies, mayors of major cities, and religious leaders from various religious confessions. Regardless of their political views and the fact that they belong to divergent cultures and religions, they have all been productively cooperating within the framework of the Academy to address global and regional problems facing the international community.
