Mission statement:
Since restoring its independence, the Azerbaijan Republic has resolutely followed a path of gradual development. A qualitatively new stage in our country’s dynamic, sustainable development, which began in 2003, has now become established. Dynamic reforms under way in Azerbaijan in the socio-political, economic and socio-cultural areas have brought about development and real transformation. All these processes serve to improve the standard of living of the country’s citizens and to reinforce Azerbaijan’s standing amongst the rest of the world. An image is taking shape of contemporary Azerbaijan as a society that is being renewed and modernized. In these circumstances, young people need to be active as a symbol of the idea of the future and are the main prerequisite for sustainable development. Young people, who think in a new way, have initiative, are educated and capable and at the same time uphold national-spiritual values, must give an appropriate response to the challenges facing Azerbaijan and be committed to future success as well as to preserving the achievements of the modern era. And it is these young people who must lead independent Azerbaijan to a guaranteed future while forming the image of a new citizen in Azerbaijan. We accept democracy as part of the life of society, as the way of thinking of society and as the foundation of mutual relations within society. We believe democracy is sovereign law, which consists of every people specifying their own development strategy and path, and we stress the need for democratic institutions to be in place and working well for public welfare and fulfilment. At the same time, we resolutely condemn any intention to use them for other purposes. From this point of view, we see democracy as the fruit of Azerbaijani society and reject non-evolutionary models. On this path, we declare that our values are an open society, democratic transformation and economic liberalization for the sake of national development. As an organization, we are creating the image of a citizen who respects national-spiritual values, religion, language and history. We are against cosmopolitanism which has been created by liberalization accompanied by an expansion of democratic desires in society. Only spiritual and ethical criteria based on national values and rules will be able to guarantee the complete and comprehensive development of every member of our society. We are guided by neo-conservative ideas. We want to see responsible state officials, students and property owners who are true to their values. As the “IRELI” Public Union, we aim to create in Azerbaijan a new type of organization founded on modern technology and ways of working, to renew the way of thinking of young people, who are an active category of the population, and to create the image of a new citizen who is nourished by democratic values and preserves national pride. We believe evolution to be the only path for the development of our society and consider it one of our main duties to ensure the active participation of young people in this area. We are innovators and as such are integrators for the renewal and modernization of our society. As representatives of the young people of contemporary Azerbaijan, we are building our future, based on what has already been achieved in sustainable development, aware of our responsibility for what is done today and relying on our national-spiritual roots, and we declare the creation of the “IRELI” Public Union! 24 December 2008 Founding Conference of the “IRELI” Public Union
