Mission statement:	Access Tourism New Zealand (ATNZ)works to improve access in society in general for People with Disabilities (PwDs), ageing seniors, and others by advocating for access and universal design in tourism, travel, hospitality and leisure. It does this on the national and international level. ATNZ is NZ's leading accessible tourism advocacy organization. Director Sandra Rhodda is Research Programme Leader in Access Tourism at The New Zealand Tourism Research Institute, AUT University, Auckland, and as such, was responsible for the first NZ Conference on Accessible Tourism held at that university in October 2010. ATNZ has also been involved in international conferences on accessible tourism (for example, UNESCAP Takayama, where director Rhodda was part of the committee which constructed the "Takayama Declaration on the Development of Communities-for-All in Asia and the Pacific" November 2009). Other conference input includes at Fundacion ONCE ("3rd International Congress of Accessible Tourism for All", Valladolid, Spain, November 2010), and at the "First South-East Asian Conference on Accessible Tourism", Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 2012). Director Rhodda is part of the committee setting up an Asia Pacific Network for Accessible Tourism that arose out of that meeting (similar to and will be affiliated with the European Network for Accessible Tourism - ENAT). Rhodda is also on the organizing committee for "Destinations for All - International Summit on Accessible Tourism" to be held in Montreal, October 2014. Two to four blogs about Accessible Tourism are posted weekly on the ATNZ website. Blogs report news of developments in Accessible Tourism or closely related topics from around the world and the website has around 1000 unique visitors per month. The @accesstourismnz Twitter account tweets almost exclusively about accessible tourism or about closely related topics, and has at this date, 1250 followers.
