Mission statement:
We are a law school, and so our focus is on the legal issues facing indigenous people. We offer a certificate program in Indian Law to our graduates and we host the Northern Plains Indian Law Center which includes the Institute for the Study of Tribal Law and Policy, the Tribal Environmental Law Project, and the Tribal Judicial Institute which engages in training tribal courts and tribal judges. We are one of the few law schools in the country which offers international and comparative indigenous law courses due to the proximity of Canada and its large First Nation population.
