Mission statement:	The Network aims towards empowering the youths in Africa through contributing to the theoretical creation and the practical implementation of youth policies by: being the first African platform of its kind on critically assessing youth policies and interconnecting youth policy actors; establishing a main study and research centre on youth policies and their practical outcomes in Africa; acting as a federation and coordination of efforts and coalitions by youth led organisations in Africa, which are working on youth policies; speaking as a new voice for youth in Africa impacting international and regional policies through advocacy and consultations before the United Nations, the African Union, national governments and other policy making organisations as well as regional and international institutions and non-governmental actors; connecting grassroots through partner organisations in Africa to the realities surrounding youth policy and youth work by empowering these actors to advocate for their own needs through constructive dialogue amongst them and with their respective governments and stakeholders. appealing to Africa’s United Nations Member States to renew their commitments regarding implementing youth policies on the African continent; creating a common and workable understanding of youth policy with a set of theoretical and practical key indicators, following the creation of an African youth policy database and fact files as reference point for youth policy research in Africa; assessing the creation and evaluation of African youth policies, its level of implementations and impacts on the lives of African youths in order to popularise youth policy among African youths; offering means to obtain understandable, available and accurate access to information about relevant youth policy matters, which are enhancing youth empowerment and involvement; jointly develop youth policy implementation strategies and capacity building, including alternative and new approaches, and presenting them to youth policy actors; supporting the development and implementation of youth policies by offering technical assistance, sharing of expertise, knowledge and advocacy strategies; becoming a team of liaisons for youth policy matters in Africa.
