Purpose of the organization: |
The institute is intended to develop a multidisciplinar project on education and communication and to be a media brand of national reference for the rescue of the citizenship concept in strictu sensu while conscience and exercise of the collective civil rights. Such concept have been totally disfigured and confused by the demagogy of the "social rights" spread through the media by the Brazilian political and social elites. The project motivates the development of the social control as well as a cooperational conduct, solidarity and political participation among the organized segments of the Brazilian civil society as a whole and, particularly, of the management staffs of companies and entities.
It catalyzes and motivates - through several internet and communication resources - the manifestation of those opinion former´s groups both in the media and in the public space, through the exercise of surveillance of the Justice and of the Public Security (as expression of the collective civil rights) of the social control of the mandates (as expression of the political rights), of the fiscalization of the public budgets and of the companies´ market policies (respectively as expressions of the fiscal and economical rights). |
Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the regional, national or international level: |
A Voz do Cidadão works in the media (mainly radios, newspapers and the web) to create in people a citizenship consciousness. That is so because in Brazil “citizenship” is misunderstood as “charity”, “philanthropy” or even “civility” and almost never as “governance”, governmental accountability” or “social control of public budgets”.
We have special radio bulletins (about 3 to 4 minutes each, twice a week) in the two main Brazilian radio networks. In these bulletins, we comment about national and foreign news, always in the perspective of a citizenship culture. Together, these two radios reach over 600,000 thousand people, nationwide, of which about 30% are considered “opinion leaders”. |
