    Organizational structure: The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ consists of seven divisions focusing on environmental research and sustainable development. The divisions are Social Science (with the Departments Economics, Environmental and Planning Law, Urban and Environmental Sociology, Environmental Politics), Environmental Health, Health Research, Environmental Research, Terrestrial Ecology, Water and Soil Science, Environmental System Computation and Monitoring. The legal structure is a GmbH (limited liability company).
