  • Mission statement:
    Year established:
    Year of registration: 1986
Organizational structure: In 1985, the Center for Clean Air Policy was established in the District of Columbia and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as tax-exempt under 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) to conduct scientific and educational research. CCAP has been a recognized world leader in climate and air quality policy and is the only independent think-tank working exclusively on these issues at the local, national and international levels. CCAP helps policymakers around the world to develop, promote and implement innovative solutions to major climate, air quality and energy problems. With on-the-ground policy and research staff and consultants across the U.S. and around the globe, CCAP is developing pragmatic solutions that balance both environmental and economic interests. Headquartered in DC, CCAP has offices in Brussels and Montreal, and on-the-ground policy and research staff and consultants across the US, Mexico and Chile. CCAP is governed by a 19 member board of directors, who meet annually and operate under standard by-laws. The staff of 20 is headed up by Ned Helme, President of CCAP, and a management team consisting of managers of finance, administration, policy, development, and communications. The management team holds weekly meetings to discuss and coordinate organizational governance, policy and strategic issues for the organization.
Number and type of members: CCAP is not a membership-based organization. As a think tank, it is accountable to its board of directors and the voluntary contributions of its donors. We do have a mailing list of about 4000 various NGO, governmental and corporate individuals who are interested in receiving news of CCAP’s research, but we do not have a membership.
Affiliation with NGO networks: Climate Action Network (CAN), Climate Action Network (CAN) – Europe , Coordinated Low Emissions Assistance Network (CLEAN), Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership, Research and Independent Non-governmental Organizations (RINGO)
    Funding structure:
  • Donations and grants from domestic sources
  • Foreign and international grants
