Our organization work hand in hand with local groups and indigenous communities to bring development to the rural populace through economic empowerment programs, workshops on gender equality and human right issues. In Nigeria, we work with indigenous peoples and communities in several states of the federation. Our largest focus group has been the Gbabyi also known as the Gwari in Northern Nigeria. They form the largest indigenous group in the federal Capital Territory, Abuja and also Niger State and can be found in areas such as Gwandara, Bassa, Gade and Gana gana. Eighty five percent of the people are uneducated and living below poverty level. We work closely with various associations and women groups in the local communities to access economic empowerment programs, skills acquisition and gender equality. |
