Yamba Malawi is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the US, and a registered international nonprofit organization in Malawi. We are currently registering for status as a local nonprofit in Malawi, which is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2020. Our two offices are in Lilongwe, Malawi, and in New York City. In Malawi, we are advised by a three-member Board of Advisors, which will expand to a larger Board of Directors by the end of 2020. In the US, we are governed by a 14-member Board of Directors (which will expand to 16 members in June 2020), including experts in sub-Saharan Africa, law, finance, management, economic development, marketing and branding, and fundraising. The US Board of Directors holds overall fiduciary responsibility for the organization.
Overall strategic and financial management of Yamba Malawi is the responsibility of the Executive Director, Peter Twyman, who has 25+ years of experience leading public health and child-focused programs. Management of the program in Malawi is the responsibility of the Country Director, Gertrude Kabwazi, a seasoned leader in children’s rights and development programs in Malawi. Our staff of 24 include 18 staff in Malawi, and six in New York. |
