Mission statement:
Instituto Qualivida (IQ) was founded in 1997 with the main objective of improving the lives of urban dwellers through job training and sustainable organizational development. Since its inception, IQ has assisted 120,000 disadvantaged youths and adults to make their own livelihoods through acquiring job skills, human resources training, and small business development. IQ maintains partnerships with a diverse group of professionals, organizations and community leaders. IQ works throughout Brazil, teaching appropriate, marketable skills that enable disadvantaged young, men and women to become self-reliant, economically productive, and capable of improving the quality of life for themselves and their families. IQ’s economic development programs are based on local markets. With the driving force of the UN Millennium Development Goals and their urgent realization, IQ is currently implementing a large Entrepreneurship and Business Development program in various slums in Rio de Janeiro with the objective of providing capacity building support to the local slum dwellers. This program is less than two months old, but it has already reached more than 2,000 participants.
