Organizational structure: |
CICIAMS is organised at international, regional and local levels. The Administrative Body is the General Council and the Executive Board. The General Council is the supreme authority and consists of the National Presidents of each member association and meets bi-annualy. Business is conducted by email in between if necessary. The Executive Board is elected at four yearly intervals and consists of the International President, Secretary General,International Treasurer, Regional Presidents for Asia, Africa, Europe and Pan American. In additione there are delegated to the WHO, UN and Council of Europe, Chairpersons of Committees - Professional, Finance, Family, Midwives and Ethics. |
Number and type of members: |
The exact numbers are unknown but they are in the thousands e.g. there are over 10,000 members in India down to individual associate members. Members are primarlily nurses and midwives although membership is open to all healthcare workers. Members of national associations are full members with full voting rights, members of schools, colleges and individuals are associates who may attend and contribute all meetings but without voting rights. |
