Mission statement:	The main purpose of the IIN is to create, maintain, promote, lobby for, strengthen, enhance and build the capacity and the socio-economic opportunities and development of the indigenous and minority peoples of Kenya through such suitable and appropriate means, strategies and forums including but not limited to generation and dissemination of relevant information, application of strategies employed towards and leading to proper and prudent conservation of environment, research on issues negatively affecting the growth and development of indigenous and minority peoples including the review of improper cultural and other practices and promotion of gender equality and in the attainment of these objectives, to collaborate and liaise with such existing community or non-community based institutions and other local or international institutions with and sharing similar objectives, aims and goals as those of IIN.

Organizational structure:	The affairs of IIN are managed and administered by a Board of management who shall be appointed and hold office as hereinafter mentioned
Number and type of members:	the Board shall consist of not less than ten (10) nor more than fifteen (15) Members who shall include the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman of the IIN but excluding the Chief Executive Officer who shall be an ex-officio member and Secretary to the Board. A member of the Board need not be Member of the IIN. All the executive bodies elected by the annual general meeting
