LDSC is a nonprofit corporation established by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("LDS Church") to perform humanitarian, development, emergency relief and similar services worldwide. It is organized under the laws of the State of Utah and operates in accordance with the provisions of Utah Code § 16-6a. Consistent with these laws, its formal structure is made up of a “Board of Directors” (also known as Trustees), and “Officers of the Corporation” who are located in Salt Lake City, run LDSC's day-to-day operations and manage LDSC's budget. There are no members or any other organizational body. In addition to this formal structure, LDSC is assisted by volunteers and others in the field to develop and undertake projects. On the ground, in many countries are “humanitarian service volunteers.” There are currently 138 such volunteers in 49 countries. These volunteers report to 16 “regional coordinators.” These individuals originate projects, maintain relations with local and regional partner organizations and assure that LDSC's projects are tailored to local needs and cultures. |
