Mission statement:	The Church Development Service (EED) is a development organisation of the Protestant Churches and the Old Catholic Church in Germany. It is committed to the biblical mandate of working towards a just and peaceful world that respects life in all its various forms. [...] EED understands development as a process towards liberation from hunger, poverty and disease, and from unjust power structures, which violate people's dignity and rights and prevent them from control over their vital resources. [...] EED is part of the ecumenical movement. It works in ecumenical partnership with the churches in Germany, with partner churches world-wide and with ecumenical agencies, as well as in cooperation with other allies within the churches and beyond. EED respects other cultures and religions. It supports independent and culturally specific development and seeks dialogue and cooperation with people of other faith. EED, through its programmes, seeks to contribute to reduce poverty, hunger and misery, to build juster societies, to resolve conflicts in a non-violent way, to preserve the integrity of creation and to overcome the inequitable consequences of globalisation.

Organizational structure:	The EED is a body formed by an association of German protestant churches and church-related organisations. These members elect a Governing Board, led by a chairperson. The day-to-day work is managed by the Board of Executive Directors, who are chosen by the governing board, to whom they are responsible.
Number and type of members:	EED is a development organisation of the Protestant Churches in Germany. The members of the EED are the 23 Evangelical regional churches, the Evangelical Church in Germany, the Association of Protestant Churches and Missions in Germany, the Association of Protestant Free Churches in Germany, the Catholic Diocese of Old Catholics in Germany and the Independent Evangelical Lutheran Church. EED is registered in Bonn as a non-profit organisation.
