Organizational structure: ECODES identifies and develops promising ideas and strategies for addressing social, environmental and economic imbalances and injustices. We then seek to promote these ideas through knowledge dissemination as well as through projects and programs that can de replicated and taken to scale. ECODES develops research initiatives focussed on sustainability and social responsibility, including reports, briefs, articles, studies and best–practice manuals on environmental, social, and ethical issues. The goal of this research is to inform our stakeholders about the causes and consequences of our major social, economic and environmental challenges and highlight practical and effective strategies for promoting a more sustainable and just model of development and growth. In addition, we design, develop and manage innovative demonstration projects to show how changes in actions and behaviour (consumption patterns, investments, resource utilisation) can lead to significant environmental and social changes. Finally, ECODES provides technical assistance and consultancy services to public and private organisations and assists organisations in implementing environmental, social, ethical and good governance policies. Our focus areas Our work focuses on four main issue areas: ¿ Water. Our goals in terms of water are twofold. In Spain, ECODES works to promote efficient and rational water usage in urban environments through large-scale educational and awareness campaigns as well as the promotion of water saving technologies; in Latin America, ECODES, working through local partners, develops and implements projects and programs that promote water accessibility and sanitation services for disadvantaged populations. ¿ Social responsibility. ECODES analyses the social, environmental, and ethical behaviour of the major publicly-traded companies in Spain and Latin America. In addition, we partner with businesses, public agencies, and non-profits to help them incorporate social, environmental, and ethical concerns into their strategic and day-to-day operations. ¿ Global climate change. ECODES offers information and tools to help organisations and individuals transition to a less carbon intensive future by measuring their carbon footprint, reducing the emissions caused by their activities and offsetting the remaining carbon emissions through reforestation and renewable energy projects in developing countries. ¿ Responsible consumption. ECODES believes in the power of market based strategies to bring about significant social and environmental changes. For that reason, we offer a wide range of tools to help consumers and investors incorporate environmental and social criteria in their decision-making process.
