Mission statement:
THE 3-DPIS EQUATION: The 3-DPIS Theory posits that, when people’s value orientation is warped and perverse and their leadership is deficient, the building blocks of peace, security and development of the people and their land will be inferior. There will, certainly be social and economic distress and psychological disorders: emotional, personality and behavioural disorders, including anti-security and anti-development behaviour patterns, among such a people and land, and the backlash effect of violent crimes and conflicts, wars, militancy and terrorism. The high populations of psychologically traumatised women, children and youths, as well as weak institutions produced by the crises constitute the weak social capital, which perpetuate the vicious circle. The 3-DPIS equation: PVO + LD = SED + PT =PD PVO (Perverse value orientation) + LD (Leadership Deficit) = SED (Socio-economic Distress) + PT (Psychological Trauma)= PD (Psychological Disorders) personality, emotional, behavioural disorders, including anxiety, depression, frustration, resentment towards society, hostility, drug abuse, obsession with wealth and power, psychopathic deviance, anti-security and anti-development behavior patterns, socio-economic and political backlash, violence, conflicts and wars; youth militancy and terrorism, disorganization, decay and diminishing of society. This is the crisis that is diminishing many African communities and other conflict regions, world-wide. AAFID’S MISSION STATEMENT: AAFID’s mission is to implement the 3-DPIS Initiative, in order to bridge the critical gaps in knowledge, policies and institutional capacities of stakeholders for the addressing of the psychological dimension of security and development in every community and nation in Africa, as well as heal psychological wounds, which have been inflicted on high populations of psychologically deranged, destabilized, disoriented and disillusioned prisoners, militants and vulnerable traumatized women, children and youths, including prisoners, ex-prisoners, ex-combatants, ex-child soldiers, victims of women and child trafficking, and vulnerable people, at risk, in Nigeria and other African nations. The 3-DPIS Initiative is aimed to reform, rehabilitate, empower and unleash their creative energies, insight and vision to be part of security and development of their communities. Because women and children are most vulnerable, when terror is unleashed on their communities through violent crimes and conflicts, militancy, wars and terrorism, women are justified to lead the 3-DPIS Campaign. A key component of the 3-DPIS Initiative is, therefore the “Women Go On! Global Campaign”, which is aimed to educate, sensitise and mobilise women, world-wide, to lead the 3-DPIS Campaign as instruments of transformational change, healing and empowerment of their institutions and communities, in order to facilitate the Initiative and put an end to the highlighted crisis, which constitutes a serious threat to the present-day and collective future survival of women and children and their communities, world-wide. AAFID forms coalitions and partnerships with stakeholders at the community, national, regional and international levels for partnership, ownership and project sustainability. The Coalition is engaged in the mobilization of national, regional and international cooperation for the arrest of the highlighted crises in various communities in Nigeria, including the Niger/Delta region, other African nations, and all conflict zones, world-wide, through the 3-DPIS Initiative.
