Millennium Development Goals:	Promote gender equality and empower women
Mission statement:	The Centre for Civil and Political Rights (CCPR Centre) is a non-profit association governed by the statutes of the CCPR Centre and by Articles 60 to 79 of the Swiss Civil Code with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Centre was established in June 2008 to promote, facilitate, and improve civil society engagement with the UN Human Rights Committee. The Centre believes that the State reporting process of the Human Rights Committee, which monitors the implementation of the ICCPR, is essential in working towards this objective. The effective engagement of CSOs in that process is necessary for an accurate assessment of the situation and to ensure the relevance of the process to the reality in the State. The Centre works with national and regional Human Rights Groups (including regional NGO networks) as well as thematic NGOs whose mandates relate to the ICCPR. The Centre’s activities are intended to complement and support those carried out in this area by other international NGOs.

Organizational structure:	The Centre is a structure with a secretariat based in Geneva, Switzerland and Members of the Board as focal points in different regions of the world. These Board Members are renowned Human Rights Defenders who are committed to linking the Centre with national civil society organisations.
