Mission statement:	Community Education Services (CES) Canada is a non-profit humanitarian organization dedicated to providing access to education for orphans and other AIDS-affected children in Kenya. CORE VALUES All members of the human family are created inherently equal All people deserve to live free from fear, repression, poverty and disease All people deserve respect and personal dignity All children are entitled to fundamental freedoms and rights All children must be protected from abuse of any kind All children have a right to grow and learn to their potential All children have a right to a basic education GUIDING PRINCIPLES Gender Equality CES Canada advocates equal opportunity to female and male students Building Capacity CES Canada assists indigenous education initiatives to become self-sustaining Collaboration CES Canada works in partnership, by invitation and agreement Building Community CES Canada seeks to strengthen the social fabric of the local community by supporting Kenyan youth to realize their potential through education MANDATE The objects of Community Education Services (CES) Canada are: (1) to reduce illiteracy through increased access to education and information technology; (2) to alleviate poverty; and to (3) achieve an improved standard of living for youth living in Kenya. Project PREPARE (Project to Reduce Poverty and Provide Access to Rural Education) is initiated and coordinated by CES Canada in consultation and in partnership with CES Kenya. The four foundation cornerstones of Project PREPARE are : EDUCATION, WATER, HEALTH, and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. The role of CES Canada is create an awareness of the devastating effects of HIV/Aids in Kenya and to raise funds to support secondary school aged students who have been orphaned or affected by the HIV/Aids pandemic. Funds raised in Canada will support programs presently being operated and managed by CES Kenya, a well-established non-governmental organization in Kenya. CES Canada presently operates in seventeen secondary schools to reduce illiteracy, alleviate poverty and to achieve an improved standard of living for disadvantaged youth living in the Kakamega District of Kenya. The three key areas of funding are scholarships, professional development and school resource and infrastructure. 1. The provision of financial and human resources to schools in the Kakamega District of Kenya to provide orphaned children of a secondary school age with: (a) scholarships to pay the annual fees for a public secondary school education; (b) one meal each day; (c) school uniforms, textbooks and other school supplies; and (d) healthcare This area includes community involvement in food production through farming and the management of animals and dairy producers. Maintaining a source of clean drinking water is essential for the health of students. In addition, mosquito nets to protect from malaria are critical for those students enrolled in residential schools. 2. The provision of financial resources and human resources by experienced education professionals to improve the education curriculum of schools in the Kakamega District of Kenya. CES Kenya principally improves the school curriculum by developing educational material on: (a) healthy living; (b) practicing safe sex; and (c) preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and integrating this material into the existing school curriculum; and 3. Improving educational standards of schools in the Kakamega District of Kenya by providing financial resources and advisory assistance to: (a) improve information technology and textbook resources in schools; (b) improve the physical infrastructure of schools; and (c) upgrade classroom facilities. This area includes the provision of clean water and electricity.

Number and type of members:	Membership in Organization is based solely on the Directors and Executive of the Chapters of CES Canada. CES Volunteers and Associates are engaged in social awareness, event management and volunteer service in the field.
