Mission statement:	Many urgent national priorities are subjects of intensive study on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania . Experts on national and international strategic issues relating to business, medicine, politics, education and security for the United States and its allies are members of our University community. The Institute for Strategic Threat Analysis and Response's (ISTAR) scope is on international and domestic events that threaten and impact our nation and democracies around the world. Broadly-based multidisciplinary teams and individual faculty members at the Institute generate and evaluate hypotheses, applications and policies for the detection, prevention and remediation of these threats. ISTAR stimulates, supports and generates innovative projects and programs of research, education and practice in the field of strategic threats.
