    Organizational structure: The Church of the Brethren is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational purposes in accord with 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code of 1986. More specifically, the corporation is to serve the Church of the Brethren denomination by holding the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference, by operating many of the programs of the Church of the Brethren, and by assisting other international, national, regional and local entities in the Church of the Brethren to operate their programs.
    Number and type of members: The members of this corporation are the 950+/- congregations within the USA and its territories. Within those congregations are approximately 124,000 members.
