THE PEOPLE’S WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT (PWD) GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
The organization is run by a board of directors which include the following office bearers:
i. The Chairman
ii. The Vice Chairman
iii. The Treasurer
iv. The Secretary
v. The Vice Secretary
vi. The Publicity Secretary
vii. The Women and Youth Affairs Secretary
The members of the PWD Directorate are appointed by the Assembly for four-year terms. The new executive team took up its duties on 1 June 2010.
PWD decision-making structures
The Assembly is the supreme governing body of the PWD. It oversees all the PWD's activities. It formulates policy, defines general objectives and strategy, and approves the budget and accounts. It nominates the directors and the head of Internal Audit. Composed of between 15 and 25 co-opted members of South African nationality, the Assembly is reciprocal in character.
Its President and two Vice-Presidents are the President/Chairperson and Vice-Presidents/Chairmen of the PWD.
International Advisers of the PWD, 2008 - 2011
The purpose of the group of International Advisers, set up by the PWD for a twelve months period to provide it with counsel and support in its activities and policy decisions, is to seek appropriate ways to enhance respect for the all irrespective of anything, to help the PWD better understand and deal with the economic and political issues it encounters in carrying out its mandate and to assist it in scrutinizing the environment for its community and people’s welfare and development endeavour. |
