Mission statement:	Oceanyka is a registered non-governmental charitable organisation duly incorporated in the Republic of Mauritius in 2010 for the protection of the environmental assets and oceans and to alleviate poverty and promote food security through participative innovative replicable approaches. Mr Vassen Kauppaymuthoo, Director, has extensive working experience with poor small-scale artisanal fishing communities in Africa. Oceanyka promotes the values of the Commonwealth and the commitments taken during the UN international conferences including the Rio +10 and the SIDS meeting. . Oceanyka regroups more than 500 fisherfolks and other sea-related persons in Mauritius and overseas. It has been very active in awareness raising campaigns and public involvement in the past.
