The Humpback Whale Project was created in 1987, in Bahia-Brazil, next to the Marine Nation Park of Abrolhos. The project aims to develop scientific research and promote the conservation of those marine mammals in the brazilian coast. In 1997, the Humpback Whale Institute was created to give financial and administrative support to the project aforementioned. The Institute has nowadays two headquarters and works primarily with research, environmental education, sustainable tourism and public policies.
The HWI works in partnership with other NGOs, local business companies and also government agencies. |
