    Organizational structure: VLA’s headquarters is in São Paulo (Southeast of Brazil), but its main actions take place in 170 rural communities of 23 municipalities in the Brazilian Legal Amazon region (North, Mid-west and Northeast of Brazil). In the office, VLA’s structure has the following departments: Education, Production, Institutional Development (Communication and Fundraising), Project Management, Administrative-Financial, Presidency and Services. In the Amazon, VLA works in two levels, the municipal level and the communitarian level. VLA has a team of volunteers in each of the 23 municipalities where it woks, which supports the organization’s activities in each of the 170 rural communities.
    Number and type of members: Since 2001, VLA has been working with local volunteers in the Brazilian Legal Amazon region and has already trained more than 3,000 volunteers as reading mediators and as multipliers of VLA’s methodology. Today, VLA has approximately 150 volunteers in the 23 municipalities where it works.
