Mission statement:	Gears of Change is a youth-led media project that monitors global finance as it relates to climate change solutions and sustainable development. Working through a youth-focused lens, Gears of Change seeks to fight climate change and ecological degradation by empowering youth voices and bringing together local and international struggles in the fight against climate change, and to help these movements focus on root cause remedies. Our staff and volunteers are highly engaged in US youth climate change advocacy, working in schools, universities, and organizing with other groups nationally. In the past, some of our staff have attended the UNFCCC negotiations, and we have helped to facilitate report-backs here in New England for community members who would like to learn more about the international negotiation process. We hope to attend the UNCSD intersessional in late March in NYC, as well as the Rio+20 conference in June. We have developed a "Road to Rio" education campaign here in New England, US, and seek to inform local organizations about the development of the green economy and next steps in sustainable development.

Organizational structure:	Gears of Change, which receives 501(c)(3) status through Global Justice Ecology Project, is run by a small staff and supported by member volunteers. Our Board of Advisors is composed of academics, representatives of NGOs and environmental organizers. Currently, we employ a 5 person staff, based out of our headquarters in Burlington, Vermont. Currently our staff is engaged in research, education and outreach, grant-seeking, and forming alliances and partnerships with other organizations with similar goals and work.
Number and type of members:	Our member base consists of an informal network of volunteers- in New England, nationally, and internationally- who help us with outreach, information sharing, and building momentum towards Rio+20.
