Mission statement:	1. Motivation is the key to bring emotion and willingness to learn to education: the human being is free, intelligent and able to love, and inputs for motivation may arise from the actions developed to encourage young people, but also from the subject itself, by means of self-constructed factors influencing behavior. Together with effort and constant work, motivation helps young people find satisfaction in what they do and a positive response is also found in terms of students’ academic development. 2. Paradoxically, some people seem to believe that the message of Peace is dangerous. In this respect, it seems that some governments and radical groups believe pacifism is a sign of weakness. Escuela Cultura de Paz believes that the only way to Peace is to look for the reasons behind violence, fighting against them to eliminate the idea that violence is needed to solve conflicts. 3. Peace is not a one-day slogan. It is an every-day construction process, from anywhere, from any school, from any family. Peace starts by admitting that we do not hold the truth, that we might be wrong sometimes, and that the other’s point of view cannot be eliminated by force. 4. Peace is a way of living for those who believe that violence will only be eradicated through dialogue, a reasonable debate and by fighting against unfair practices. 5. Peace is not the result of the absence of war. Peace is the absence of unfairness to the poor and the less favored in the World, to women suffering, to abused children or young people. Peace is the eradication of any sort of discrimination, abuse or violence of any type. From our experience, we would humbly propose what follows: 1. To promote actual solidarity (not charity) amongst the people, thanks to young people. Acting with solidarity means showing respect, mutual support and interdependence. Any social, cultural, family association needs solidarity to secure their stability and identity. However, in order to attain this objective, a more adequate structure is needed, allowing a fair distribution of tasks and economic resources. 2. To promote a restless Peaceful revolution for the Peace in order to constantly fight for the defense of Human Rights on Earth. If someday we manage to eradicate the reasons behind violence, we will have found a way for Peace, and a new era will be inaugurated, with hope instead of gunpowder, and life instead of death. This is in our hands, because we hold the leading role in History. 3. To teach young people to be happy: It is important to convey the importance of emotion, happiness and hope to young people, together with the value of personal commitment to their own lives and to those of the others. This is why adults should teach and raise children for happiness. 4. To teach and encourage young people in order to meet significant goals in the Culture of the Peace. To promote social volunteering with the less favored. 5. To promote the values of an integrating and non-discriminatory education, aiming at giving response to complex interests, problems and needs in education. We will get the most of it if we compensate inequalities and promote equal opportunities.
