Formation & Structure: A generous initiative by members of the national legislator led to form the Sudanese women Parliamentarians Caucus and this newly born entity has been blessed with generous support and care from the executive & legislative organs of the state in order to attain a number of goals under the Sudanese women Parliamentarians Conduct of Business Regulation 2007- amendment 2010 ,the statute, the structure and the means of achieving those goals. The structure : 1- The general assembly. 2- The executive committee. - The Foreign Affairs Committee. - The Social affairs committee. - The Training and Capacity building Committee. - The Public Relations and Media committee. - The Information, studies and Researches committee. - The Culture Affairs Committee. - The Parliamentary Initiatives committee. - The Coordination and Liaison Committee. - The Administrative and Financial Affairs Committee. - The Peace and Unity Committee. 3- The Secretariat. |
Number and type of members: |
At the start (2007), membership consisted (85) women MPs who represented different political parties, but currently membership of the elected parliament(2010 election ) consists of (114) woman PMs ( 5 - the Council of the States , 109 – the National Assembly) who represent the following parties: the National Congress, the Sudanese People Liberation Movement, the People Congress and the Federal Umma Party. After the secession of the Southern Sudan, membership of the National Assembly has become (87) but there has been no change in membership of the Council of State(5) which makes total of (93) woman parliamentarians. |
