Combine Efforts Non-Profit Non-Government Expert Society on Space Threat Defense (NGES STD) Organization was established on February 20, 2004, which is capable of solving problems in the field of aerospace safety in efficient, responsible and qualified manner. The NGES STD activities are based on the equality of its members, development initiatives, self-government, democracy, legality and transparency, self-financing. NGES STD aims to arrange and carry out fundamental and applied researches in the field of aerospace-related security challenges connected to plugging-up terrestrial space, asteroid and comet hazard, space-air environmental safety issues, to draw up analytical reports and recommendations to the International and Russian Society, World wide political leadership regarding the rational ways and means of aerospace defense formation, deployment and operation. NGES STD aims to bring together a wide range of independent and reputable scientists and experts from Russia, the entire international community to conduct basic and applied scientific and technical research in the aerospace peaceful use, space-air environmental safety, to deal with other scientific and technical areas, monitoring, analysis and expert evaluation of materials covering the NGES STD activities in the media. Currently NGES STD comprises more than 130 leading scientists, former military and civilian professionals in the field of aerospace safety, including 5 academicians of Russian Academy of Science, 50 PhD in Engineering, 52 PhD in Physics with specialization of Aerospace, 43 Former Generals of Russian Army and Air Force. Total number of enterprises and institutions represented in NGES STD amounts to 64 comprising more than 20,000 researchers. NGES STD has entered into the general agreements on cooperation with 15 leading public and scientific organizations of industrial sector with a total staff of more than 12,000 employees. Implementing activities related to the UN: 1. Combine efforts of a wide range of independent and reputable scientists and experts of the international community to conduct basic and applied scientific and technical aerospace research, monitoring, analysis and due diligence of submissions received. 2. Conduct non-governmental briefings, international scientific forums and conferences, round tables, seminars focusing on the aspects as follows: • outer space and airspace explicit and implicit threats, including asteroid and comet hazards; • space environmental security; • man-made disasters; • Mankind and planet Earth aerospace safety. 3. Interaction with the United Nations Committee on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and its subcommittees with the support of the Office for Outer Space Affairs (headquarters in Vienna) and other organizations working in this field. 4. Preparation of expert opinions and reports to the state military and political leadership on the development of effective aerospace defense system for critical assets, territories, states, groups of states, the planet Earth and making research in aerospace sector. 5. Development of weapons and military equipment necessary to counter the asteroid-comet hazard being a serious risk factor for our civilization, to deal with space debris, as well as participation in developing and implementing federal authorities and agencies’ programs devoted to the evolution of air and space defense systems, fundamental and applied aerospace research. 6.
