Organizational structure: Project 1948 is a non-governmental organization dedicated to giving a camera and a voice as a platform for policy-change. Named from the year the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was published, the organization is committed to empower and advocate for global social change. Through a photo-voice initiative, the organization is using arts-based data analysis for direct insight into community concerns. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA the work of the international organization focuses in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Project 1948 has received formal accreditation from the United Nations Economic and Social Council and was granted special consultative status -- a designation conferred to only selected NGOs. Project 1948 can now organize United Nations events, submit reports, make policy recommendations and attend closed meetings to speak on behalf of civil society. Project 1948 holds an official partnership exchange with The Global Goals. The organization aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals. The NGO embodies #16 the promotion of Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by way of a two-part model: to provide the medium of photography and human rights to catalyze community policy-change through youth capacity building. The organization uses outcome based data analysis to influence policy. Stakeholders and external partnerships are responsible for the ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation. Program progress indicates outcomes and impact through a yearly annual report. The organization's program approach creates avenues for resource accessibility and empowers young adults to create an international dialogue in order to hold officials and institutions accountable at all levels of government. Engagement with the arts propels young adults to become community leaders, effectuate change, and strengthen their institutional representation.
