Mission statement:	Global Energy Initiative is an international not-for-profit organization with the mission of promoting sustainable energy for all, fighting energy poverty, protecting the environment, and mitigating the effects of climate change. The Initiative aims to create a new energy paradigm that will contribute to more equitable economic and social development—to the benefit of humanity in general—with a primary focus on developing nations. To this end, Global Energy Initiative organizes public discussion forums; educates people on judicious energy use, environmental protection, and the effects of climate change; promotes research and technological advancement on energy efficiency; and supports projects that help to eliminate energy poverty. Global Energy Initiative is dedicated to the broader principles and guidelines adopted by the United Nations for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will contribute to the success of the next ten years which the United Nations have entitled, 2014-2024: The Decade of Sustainable Energy for All.

Organizational structure:	Established under the New York State non-profit law, Global Energy Initiative is run by the elected Board of Directors (currently 9 Members), which is responsible for the overall governance per the bylaws of the organization. The executive office, headed by the President is responsible for the implementation of the organization's agenda and is accountable to the Board of Directors.
