    Organizational structure: Non-profit entity--recognized as a "social welfare" organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Governed by a 19-member Board of Directors comprised of representatives of business, labor, NGO's,and policy makers (including 4 members of the Congressional Black Caucus). The CBCI is an independent entity and unaffiliated with other organizations which may have "Congressional Black Caucus" in their name. CBCI has three main program areas: Policy education (conferences, seminars, etc.); non-partisan polical leadership training; and research and special projects.
