The GFMD is an international membership network of voluntary affiliation of about 154 organisations involved in media assistance. The GFMD Steering Committee is elected by the GFMD general members every 3 years and is represented by: -2 representatives of each region (Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Eurasia, Middle East/North Africa in progress, Latin America) -4 representatives selected from organizations with international reach -The last election took place in September 2012 and will take place again in 2016. The current Steering Committee composition is: The GFMD Secretariat is based in Brussels, Belgium, and its function is to implement the decisions of the Steering Committee and the Multiyear work plan to raise funds, organize activities and provide services to the GFMD members. The GFMD Secretariat reports to the Steering Committee and applies a transparency policy towards its members. The 2015 annual turnover of the GFMD was EUR 350K. The core needs of the GFMD are covered by financial and pro-bono contributions of its members. Grants or loans from Institutional and private donors complement the GFMD budget for specific activities occasionally. |
