Organization of Japan Habitat Association Explaining the Roles of Every Organization Structure Unit Members (see the below paragraph for details) pay their dues to JHA, receive information of JHA activities and attend JHA events. The General Assembly comprises all regular members. Its regular meeting takes place once every year and its extraordinary meeting is called by the Board or by more than one-fifth of regular members. The General Assembly approves activity reports and financial reports every year. The Board comprises all Board Directors (totaling between 15 and 25) who are appointed by the Board. The Board Directors execute the work of JHA in accordance with laws, regulations and the JHA Articles of Association. The Board resolves the following: The matters to be dealt with by the General Assembly; the matters relating to the implementation of decisions made by the General Assembly; and other matters concerning the operation of JHA. The Board approves the yearly budget and operational plan of JHA. Upon the quorum of not less than 1/3 of all Board Directors, a meeting of the Board may be called. The Chair and the Vice Chair are appointed by the Board. The Chair represents and administers JHA. The Vice Chair assists the Chair and acts as the deputy. The Chair may call a meeting of the Board. The Auditor audits the work performed by the Board as well as the status of JHA assets. In the event that the Auditor finds through the process of auditing that there has been improper handling in JHA’s work and its assets or violation of the law and/or the JHA Articles of Association, the Auditor is required to report to the General Assembly and the authorities concerned. The Auditor will call a meeting of the General Assembly if a report needs to be tabled. The Auditor will present his/her views to the Board on the status of the Board’s execution of work and/or of the assets of JHA or call a meeting of the Board. The Secretary General is appointed by the Chair pursuant to a decision of the Board. Although donors and volunteers do not appear in JHA’s organization charts, they both play very important roles in the operation of JHA. The number of donors whose names and addresses are known is approximately 180 per year. Additionally there are hundreds and thousands of donors who donate to JHA donation boxes placed in major airports in Japan. Their names and addresses are not recorded. Every year about 300 volunteers work with JHA to seek donations, help Secretariat to send JHA newsletters and other publications and sort coins given to JHA donation boxes. |
| Number and type of members: |
JHA Members There are two member categories, i.e., Regular Members and Supporting Members. Regular Members comprise the General Assembly with each Regular Member holding an equal vote. They are individuals, groups and companies, etc. They pay annual dues (JYE 3,000) to JHA and participate in the decision making process in the General Assembly. The number of Regular Members is 150. Supporting Members comprise corporations who are willing to support JHA activities. They pay annual dues (JYE30,000) to JHA but do not have voting rights at the General Assembly. The number of Supporting Members is 3. Both categories of Members receive JHA newsletter as well as event and other information from JHA. |
